One can become buried alive under the weight of his poor choices that lead to vice. Attempts at becoming comfortably numb do not set him free - but only seem to compound the problem. Like the free bird, he must eventually come to terms with reality and reach out for salvation from the one who can set him free at last.

ReplyDeleteI don't know about Chris Cornell (actually hadn't heard of him before reading the Ignatius story). Another artist that comes to mind is Bob Dylan. I'm not actually a big fan, but Fr. Robert Barron has written / spoken about him on Word on Fire:
